Split Folding Rear Seats; a great idea!
But it’s where occupant safety and a vehicle design feature meet up.
The compromise is the ‘half mesh’ cargo barrier.
Retain feature functionality for your load carrying requirements without the need to remove the cargo barrier and still retain a level of protection.
The split folding seat compatible cargo barrier is manufactured and fitted to the vehicle in the same way as a standard full mesh cargo barrier.
The only difference when comparing the standard full mesh cargo barrier with the split folding seat compatible cargo barrier is with the latter, there is no mesh in the lower half of the cargo barrier.
If seated with the split folding seat compatible cargo barrier fitted the manufacturer’s seat construction will offer occupants protection from unrestrained shifting loads in the no mesh area as it would in the absence of a cargo barrier.
The split folding seat compatible cargo barrier will allow for either or both seat uprights (back rests) to be folded forward and down into a flat position. This will enable longer items to be transported without the cargo barrier having to be removed.
For occupant safety, it is recommended to secure loads by using approved cargo nets and load tie-down straps prior to moving the vehicle.
